Star Trek

Eric Bana, Zoe Saldana, Bruce Greenwood, Zachary Quinto, and Chris Pine oh my! People have waited for this movie to be released for the better part of 7 years. Changes in casting and a final delay of 5 months has made people even more anxious. Regardless the franchise has done it again with an excellent display of script writing and an excellent cast.
First off I will have to say that all of the cast members did their homework. Kirk was pompous and commanding and Spock was intelligible as always. Montgomery Scott was just as quirky and Chekhov hard to understand. Regardless I find that the cast was easy to look at, attractive mhmm, and great actors. Zoe Saldana did not fail in a great delivery as a love interest and the extremely capable Uhura. One thing that was interesting was that Zachary Quinto was not that much different from his Sylar persona on Heroes….in the beginning. When Kirk manages to bring out the emotions in Spock there is a change in the character of Spock which I feel saves Quinto’s career from forever being type casted like a certain Matrix character.
As for the first extremely sensual sex scene going on with Kirk in his skivvies I must say that it was not distasteful. The entire crew of the enterprise left a huge amount of sexual tension that someone would need the firepower of quantum torpedos to break. Not going into much detail I would like to say that I hope this is not the last time we have some star trek bulges and dry humping. It’s the future green people need lovin too!
There are also changes in design aspects of the film. The Enterprise bridge undergoes a makeover. Using bright colors I have heard it described as looking like the inside of a mac store. I agree and I LOVED it. New touch screens envelop the entire room with some of the old sounds from the original series. Once again easy to look at and everything was explained. You do not have to be a trekkie or even a star trek lover to go see this film. Furthermore, even the star trek lovers will be on ground zero. This movie is set in an alternative timeline where Vulcan is destroyed and Kirk never met his father. This is a NEW frontier and the franchise is boldly going where no Trek has gone before.
